Does anyone know if there is a bus from Sihanoukville to either/or Kep and Kapout?(sp) How long of a trip is it and is it worth a few days of our vacation to Cambodia to go there? We will be spending seven days of our trip in the beach area of Cambodia. Any suggestions on what to see? We are thinking about spending a few days on Bamboo Island. Has anyone been there?
Bus from Sihanoukville to Kep
Bus between Snuk%26#39;ville and Kampot is no more (lack of punters) can take the G%26#39;DAY guest house mini van, form Kampot to Kep you can take the Phnom Penh bound buses, a tuk tuk, or hire a step through.
Bus from Sihanoukville to Kep
Thank you for your response. So if I get to Kep I can take a bus to PP? Is it on the Mekong Express bus line? Also how much would it cost to hire a ride to Kep? We would love to see the beaches there before they are ruined by too many tourists.
We took a pleasant ride from Sihanoukville to Kampot and Kep via scooters hired at S%26#39;Ville. Just watch for the traffic on the main highway but once you take the turn-off the roads are very pleasant.

Happy %26amp; safe travels
No bus but you can go by Gday mini bus. We took a taxi and cost 35.00. Kep is very quiet and very little to do, stayed at Vanna guest house which was nice. In S%26#39;ville we stayed at the Cove Beach Bungalows at Serendipity Beach, which are right on the beach and at around $15.00 were just what we were looking for. We went to Bamboo Island and it looked nice. There are places to stay on the front side looking back to S%26#39;ville or a quieter place on the other side. Yes there is a bus that goes from Kep to PP and costs $6, Air Con and fine not Mekong Express, maybe they also go.

Thank you for all your answers. I think that we%26#39;ll try to get to Kampot and Kep by bus and then go back to PP from Kampot. Then we won%26#39;t have to back track and will see more of the country. You are all so helpful and I appreciate you all.
Loved your tales of your travels Bob and Jeanette. You have helped me so much with our trip decisions. Did you think that Kep and Kampot were interesting?
The trip was worth it and in Kampot we stayed at a charming Guesthouse right on the river...Rikitikitavi I think. We had good interaction with the locals enroute, but the towns are very quiet at night.
Cheers
Thank you Bob and Janette,
I think that we will try to spend two or three days in Kampot at the RikiTikiTava and then visit Kep for seafood on one of the days and perhaps go out to one of the islands. I found out that you can get a bus from Kampot to PP. I%26#39;d like to see Bokar and the Nat. Park also. Love to have any input from anyone on this decision. We%26#39;ll be in Cambodia for three weeks and we want to see as much of the Country as we can. We%26#39;ll spend six days in Seim Reap, two in Battanbang and four days in PP. The rest to the time we would like to do the beaches. How does that sound?
Sounds like a great plan to me.
Bokor Mtn was closed when we were there but I understand that it may be open again or at least open occassionally as the truck traffic allows.
Cheers
