Tonle sap lake visit & boat ride

Can anyone help me by advising what sort of time span I should allow for a visit to, and boat ride on, Tonle Sap lake. I have a free afternoon on one day from 2 pm. (After that I%26#39;m planning on visiting the Angkor Wat temples for 3 days (before taking an early morning flight out next day).Do I have sufficient daylight time available in November to justify a worthwhile visit to, and boat ride on, Tonle Sap lake before returning to Siem Reap for dinner??.

Is there anything else I should be making a point of seeing/doing while in the Siem Reap area as it is unlikely that I%26#39;ll ever be in a position to return to Siem Reap in the future.

we did the tonle sap lake tour .you can book onto a sunset cruise where they pick u up at 330 pm and return at 730pm dinner included and drinks on an old restored riverboat.that way u will see the village,see a sunset,and enjoy a lovely meal and relax with a few drinks.

there are 2 types of tours.the normal one lasts about 1 hour on the lake costs $30 per person.the other one costs the same but inludes free pick up from hotels.and meals and drinks plus a few hours on a riverboat..the company we used was tara riverboats.they own the tara boat which is the only one out there .the other tours just have small boats where you sit out on the lake with the engine off and return.recommend the tara riverboat if you want to relax .

I am travelling to siem reap for four days, arriving at midday on the first day. I am travelling alone and was wondering if you get any solo travellers on the tara riverboat sunset cruise? I don%26#39;t want to be a cuckoo in the nest, if you know what I mean.

Was thinking of doing this on my first day, and then hitting the temples on the next morning.

Any thoughts are welcome...

we did the trip on and afternoon and had enough time - our boat ride was quite short from memory, and although seeing the lake was great, it didnt remotely compare to the emotional experience of seeing the absolute squalor that those living along the estuary that leads from the boat docks to the lake

Should be a fine time to go, although I wouldn%26#39;t go for the big boat tour, I%26#39;d get down to the quay and hire a small boat - less pollution, and its far nicer!

Alternatively, you could go to the market for a couple of hours, and then head to angkor for a sunset - its free as you%26#39;ll be buying a ticket for the next day

in your 3 day trip, i presume you will be heading to bantay srei - if not, you really ought to! and whilst you%26#39;re that way you should go to aki ra%26#39;s landmine museum, and potentially kbal spean if you fancy a walk/hike up the hill to see the carvings

the check point fees are now $30 per person.so buy a ticket in town.the cost is only $20 per person for a half day and includes free pickup,and check point fees paid.

the lake and floating village is a must see.the actual lake is 15 km from siem reap.passing though rural cambodia chong kneas floating village is basically a fishing village .with floating schools,croc cente,shops,churches ect all floating.some 6000 people live in floating homes. i was amazed by the friendly people there and beautiful smiles and waves. contacted the tara for the tour. booked online was picked up from hotel and had a 4 hour tour .the price included pick up and meal and drinks on the riverboat.the smaller boats they use to tour the floating village ,enjoyed this trip and the tour had a nice english speaking guide..website is www.taraboat.com the land mine musiam is worth a few hours its only a few km outside siem reap.very interesting place,the old market is cool and be sure to wonder inside.quite interesting pick up copy of angkor siem reap guide book its free and has every thing worth seeing in it

yes the guide book is free.there are 2 main ones the siem reap angkor guide book and the ancient angkor guide book BOTH are free and can be found in hotels restaurants,bars ect be aware as kids are trying to sell these around the temples but they are a free guide book

if you get the time head out to kompong phluk.its an amazing place to visit .one company does this trip daily from chong khneas is the tara on www.taraboat.com you will see 2 floating villages and a flooded forrest they also include a guide to go with you..so you wont get lost out there
