1 full day in Angkor Wat

We are planning to spend 2 nights in Siem Reap arriving late the first night %26amp; leaving mid morning on the 3rd day. So we will have 1 full day to tour Siem Reap. Can we see enough to get a rough overview in the one day or should I change pur plans to allow for an extra day?

1 full day in Angkor Wat

You will be able to do a morning sunrise, plus the small circuit (Bayon + lots of smaller temples sprawled out in a forest within walking distance) and Angkor Wat, and after lunch head out to see the Roluos Group (3 interesting temples located some 13 kms form the center of town). You will have to pay a bit more for a tuk-tuk to see the sunrise and go out to the Roluos Group, but it will be well worth it.

1 full day in Angkor Wat

Thanks for that. I am looking at hiring a guide for the day to ensure we see as much as we can. We are working on a limited time frame so to spend an extra night in Siem Reap would mean spending less time somewhere in Vietnam %26amp; we are already on a tight schedule.

But when you get there and find out how amazing it is, you%26#39;ll regret not staying for at least 3 full days. How long have you got in Vietnam?

We are spending:

2 nights Siem Reap

2 nights Hue

4 nights Hoi An

2 nights Nha Trang

2 nights HCMC

Hoi An is beautiful ... but I%26#39;m guessing the 4 nights there is so you can have some clothes made?

Most tailors can do it faster than this so if you need to cut a day I think you could cut a day from here, Is Na Trang for a %26#39;beach stop%26#39; - Na Trang is lovely but if you%26#39;re after beaches - the ones we have here in OZ are better.

Better still I think is to do the full trip in Vietnam and then do another to Cambodia - that way you%26#39;re you%26#39;re going to come closer to %26#39;doing justice%26#39; to both places. Don%26#39;t try to cram so much into one trip would be my advice.

If you stay with this itinerary I%26#39;d cut the Roulos from the day suggested above.

Angkor Wat for sunrise and then a couple of hours exploring it, then Bayon %26amp; the two Terraces, %26amp; Ta Prohm etc. Make sure you include Pre Rup because it%26#39;s really quite different to the other temples (made partially of brick)

Early next morning head quickly out to Preah Khan - it is divine early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

I actually live near the beach in Oz (Northern Beaches Peninsular)... so that being the case do you think maybe cut Nha Trang out alltogether?

The plan is the spend the 2 days in hue seeing everything north of the city, the DMZ etc then the 4 days in Hoi An seeing everything south of hue %26amp; south of hoi an if that makes sense?

We weren%26#39;t planning on having any clothes made %26amp; I have been to hanoi %26amp; HCMC before, so we could just spend 3 days in Hoi An %26amp; have the extra day in Siem Reap. I don%26#39;t think I would want to spend more than that there as I really am usually only good for seeing one or 2 temples before I want to do something else.

The Angkor passes come in 1 day or 3 days. If you just get the 1 day pass, you can actually use it the day before (after 5PM), so you can get a sunset and then the next full day.

We are just back from Siem Reap. You can certainly do all you need to in one day. We had four nights/3 days and it was too long unless you are a real temple devotee. In one day you could easily see all the main temple sites.

I would leave your plans as they are, as you would not really see a lot more in an extra day. One full day will also mean that you only have to buy a one-day pass - if you use a car driver rather than tuk-tuk that will give you ample time to do the circuits around the temple precinct.

I would definitely cut out Nha Trang and make more time in Siem Reap, 3 nights in Hoi An but no less. There`s more to see outside of the main temple area and less crowds if you make the trip to Beng Mealea, a slightly remote temple that started life similarly to Angkor Wat but has yet to be restored. Best of all you might only find 10 people there in a day whereas at Angkor you will struggle to get a picture without another 50 people in it.
