Posting for a friend. She is 40s, single, very athletic %26amp; well-traveled (not in Asia)... Helping her plan a trip to Siem Reap.
Any recommendations on a moderately priced hotel or B%26amp;B that would be fun %26amp; clean for a Canadian woman traveling alone... where other guests are friendly, perhaps a communal dining area?
Any cafes or pubs that would be fun for her to visit at night?
Thanks!
Hotel/B%26amp;B for athletic, single woman traveling solo?
I have no idea why you posted specifics about her (is that relevant to us recommending accommodation? Am I missing something?)...Maybe important would be WHERE in Siem Reap she would like to stay- it is a pretty spread-out town- and most importantly, her budget. Guesthouses vary from $6 a night to $40, and the levels of comfort can also vary greatly. Does she want air con or will a fan do? Does she want to share a bathroom and toilet or does she want an ensuite room?

Have a look at
www.baca-villa.com
It looks OK on their website and I have booked there for March in a single air con room for $10 USD. Solo travellers usually have to look more carefully at their budget because accommodation, taxi, guides etc usually costs as much for one person as for a group.
Good luck

Would vaca villa be a good place to stay for a woman who is married, not so athletic, not well traveled? :)
Hello Mount Olympus
Well, this un-athletic, solo travelling granny, first-timer in Siem Reap is going to give it a burl!
Hope you%26#39;re there in March when I am so we can compare notes!
Cheers
Marlene
Hi Marlene,
We will miss each other by 2 weeks.
Perhaps after climbing up and down the temples, we will become a little more athletic. He he
Hey there,
I´m really curious about the answers you´ll get. I will be in the same situation in a few months. A woman, travelling alone that wants to find a good, clean, cheap guesthouse where there is a friendly athmosphere and easy going people.
I don´t understand why other people here think your question is silly.

some of the replies here are downright rude.
Whats wrong with giving some background info when requesting some hotel recommendations ? OF COURSE ITS VERY RELEVANT.
Some of the regular posters here are really getting an attitude - very disappointing.
I say this, if you cant be helpful then why post at all ????

Happy travelling, shopgirl
We stayed at the Green Garden Guest House, it was inexpensive, clean, friendly, safe, within a 10 minute walk of the major downtown restaurant/pub area. Not communal dining, but small and friendly.
We are a married couple, but noticed a lot of solo women travelers in SR.
We stayed at Two Dragons Guesthouse - it has a security guard and very reliable tuktuk drivers which can pick you up at any time of the night, including free airport pickup. There is also a gym (sort of a gym... there%26#39;s a treadmill and weights which the owner uses and shares with his guests).
We found the owner (Gordon, expat from the US) to be delightful and all the guests were very friendly. He can also answer any questions you have about actually getting to Siem Reap in the first place. It%26#39;s a nice place to chill out, with a bar/restaurant etc downstairs. I think room rates are %26lt;$15US for single rooms. It is SO clean too. Read the reviews on tripadvisor!
