Do we need to book a hotel before arrival?

Three us will arrive on P. Penh at around 5pm on February 3, 2009.

Do we need to reserve a room in advance or can we easily find a hotel on this date? We know that the Chinese new year ocurred the previous week and we are not sure how this may affect hotel room availability.

No need to pre book, best to know what you%26#39;re getting for your cash, give yourselves some idea of the location, walk around and take your pick.

Personally I prefer to book in advance. Having said that, from my experience, it is unlikely that any of the budget to mid range places in PP would actually hold a room if you are arriving that late. If someone turned up and wanted a room I suspect there is a very high likelyhood that they would be given the room - in case you didn%26#39;t show.

I%26#39;m arriving at around the same time in mid Mrach and have booked (by email) my first choice of hotels around Sisowath Quay and have selected another 3 places in the vacinity that I will try when my booking isn%26#39;t held.

Last time I prebooked the Paragon hotel by email, fax and phone plus booked airport pick up with them - still didn%26#39;t have the room type that I booked and it was just luck that they actually had a room for me at all.
