Hotels Siem Reap

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Siem Reap up to $30.00 per night. We want an airconditioned hotel room with private bathroom facilities. We are middle aged but do not require an upmarket hotel. 3 star is fine. Many thanks for your suggestions. Cheers, Rose.

Thank you so much for the info. I have emailed a few places. Did you go to Pnomh Penh too? Did you find any of the places in Camobdia dangerous. We are 60+ years old. Have you been to Laos? We would like to go there from Cambodia.

Yes, I have been to Phnom Penh twice and am headed there agian next Saturday. It%26#39;s a charming city, has a lot of culture (museum, Palace, markets, temples, etc), good food and great to sit back at the riverside and drink beer after a long day of sightseeing. No, I do not find it dangerous there, only you have to watch your belongings (as you do in ANY bustling city)and there have been several reports of people losing their bags to drive-by thieves on scooters. Just make sure you%26#39;re holding your stuff securely and you%26#39;ll be OK. There is a fair amount of street children hanging out by the riverside and some of them are selling books. You can offer to help support them by buying their books (whether this goes to their education or their father%26#39;s booze habit is unclear) but please do not hand out cash or toys as this will just encourage begging.

How long will you have in Cambodia and how long would you be able to allot for Laos? I was in Laos 3 times this year (I sponsor some kids there) and it is a very nice place to visit.

Thank you for the info. We are going on to Laos and intend spending about 6 days there probably. Vientane and Luang Prabang. It is great that you help support people there. We do the same in Bali. So many needy people everywhere and we like to go personally to give the monies directly like you do.
