any ideas for where to get good quality arts and crafts?

Definately go to Artisans d%26#39; Angkor stone and woodcarving centre, beautiful quality plus there is a free tour to see products being carved etc. The link below has photos and prices of some of the goodies we bought there.

Just copy and paste the address I left you, I think it was to long to display correctly.

This might seem a bit cheesy but we did most of our souvenir shopping at the tikki hut stalls across from the elephant terrace close to the entrance to Bayon in Angkor Thom. I really liked the oil paintings there where we picked up a few full sized (1 sofa sized and 1 smaller) both for about 40 USD. Most arts and crafts are of reasonable quality and hard bargaining an absolute must (walk away technique definitely required). Also don%26#39;t miss restaurant #12 in the same complex, good food on the cheap and no ill effects!

There%26#39;s also a place where we went I believed called Les Artisans d%26#39;Angkor. This place was a stone and wood carving school which also sold the finished products. The craving area was to the right through the showroom. There were some really beautiful and large pieces on display. Seeing the art being created was really neat, realizing what the finished products cost not so much. One advantage to these higher end places is that they%26#39;ll ship to your home just in case that 500lb Bayon Head catches your eye.

Sorry, not sure what your budget or expectations are but enjoy the shopping experience and have a great time in Siem Reap!

Hi Cathy,

How heavy is the stone carving you brought back?

What are the dimensions?

Does Artisans d%26#39;Angkor takes care of the shipping as well?

Many thanks,

charles
