Tonle Sap excursions

Aside from the Tara Boat, what other boats or tours are available on the Ton Le Sap that does not involve visiting snake/fish/crocodile farms or any kind of ';attactions';. I just want to look at the scenary.

If you do not want to visit snake/fish/crocodile, you should go to visit the bird sanctuary. You get the boat ride around 45 minutes to go there and you can see many kinds of birds and flooded forest. It is amazing and experience.

we used the tara boat but the actual time spent at the croc farm was only 10 mins,,,its only a small part of the tour.i would suggest seeing kompong phluk or prek toal we did both and enjoyed the full day..you will end up having a great time out there and the rivers are cool

This past October I took a private small boat tour with Peace of Angkor. We went to a great, non-touristy fishing village. Saw school kids paddling home from school, people selling and buying daily household items from boat merchants and sat with a bunch of fishermen on the lake as they bought and sold fish. As we went through the narrow main village, people came out and waved, said hello, asked what i was doing there. But never once did anyone come up to the boat asking me to buy trinkets, travel books, scarfs or t shirts.

It was more than double the price of Tara but to me, well worth every cent because it was a private tour to a working village. They picked me up at my hotel around 7am and dropped me off at 3pm. I%26#39;d give Peace of Angkor a call and see what you can arrange with them if you want something different.

good luck.

Hello,

We just returned from Siam Reap and our tuk-tuk driver took us on a private tour without any snakes or crocodile farms - no tourist attractions at all. His brother%26#39;s email is kimsoryar@yahoo.com. He was an excellent driver.

actually the tara tours are all private tours and they own and operate there own boats unlike most other guesthouse type tours.you will end up with your own guide and your own boat.if you want to bypass the snakes and crocodiles just tell them what you want on your tour.they also have english, french, japanisse, thai speaking guides.i have been on a lot of boats doing different types of tours and the flooded forrest is by far the best of these...that is a full day tour

My guide John Teng, who by the way, is an excellent guide (johnangkor@yahoo.com) arranged a simple boat ride for us on Ton Le Sap Lake. Cost was 7usd for each of us (we were 8). No snake/fish/crocodile farms. Personally, i thought i would have been better off visiting the other temples. There really isn%26#39;t much activity on Ton Le Sap.

If you go there, you will see what you have not seen before i your life.
