Hi,
In a recent post, someone mentioned that tuk tuk drivers only really earn income during the dry months. We%26#39;re traveling for 10 days at the end of June - does this mean tuk tuks are out of the question for us? (We are going mainly to Phnom Penh and Siem Riep; hopefully also a bit to some villages but nothing very far away).
Would appreciate any other suggestions regarding how best to deal with the weather at that time of year. We are traveling with 2 kids ages 11 and 13.
Thank you!
rain and tuk tuks in June
The tuk tuks are available in the rain. If it is raining really hard they put the sides (they zipper on to the roofing material and have clear plastic windows) on the tuk tuk so that you stay dry.
I was there in October and it rained every day.
rain and tuk tuks in June
We were there last May/June and enjoyed good weather 90% of the time. On the odd occassion that it rained the driver promptly got off the bike and covered the passenger area with clear plastic sheeting. I felt bad for the poor driver though in his raincoat.
For longer distances you might consider using cabs as they are economical also.
Here are some pics and stories of our trip in and around Cambodia... www.bobandjanette.com
Happy %26amp; safe travels
Tuk-tuks opperate year round , they cannot afford to just quit because of rain , going out to some villages you may be advised to use a 4wheel-drive taxi , I have done my share of pushing after being told the roads were good .Carry rain coats with you so you are not caught out , umbrellas only cover your head , if the wind isn%26#39;t blowing that is .
