Cheaper than Thailand that is a given. :)

another dollar question

I actually found things in Cambodia a little dearer than some places in Thailand.

Certainly a lot cheaper than prices in Sydney though.

Sopme pics and stories of our recent trip to Cambodia here... www.bobandjanette.com

Hasppy %26amp; safe travels

I found food in Siem Reap about twice as expensive as in Chiang Mai (but both dirt cheap compared to Europe or the US). OTOH, beer in Thailand is much more expensive than in Cambodia. Go figure...

Here in PP you will find most things less costly than Thailand , should you think some-one is ripping you off , they most likely are , move along , there are hundreds giving a similar service or selling items . Even in the local markets where my wife food shops , she tells me there is a fair bit of disparity in pricing , she just smiles and walks on by . A not so secret secret I use is to walk around checking out prices and doing the haggling shuffle , a vendor will often drop a price as soon as you start to walk away . Do not be discouraged , in Asia , half the pleasure of shopping is the haggling part, those that know me will sometimes double the price just to get me going , I go ';W-h-a-t ';, talk at the other vendors who have a good laugh about the carry on then threaten to go fetch my wife .

buying local stuff is generally qutie cheap, imported stuff isn%26#39;t as cheap, but is still cheap - if that makes sense!

Eating out is cheap, but the level of cheapness depends on where you go, more local type of places are cheaper, places serving western food is more (but still cheaper than home)

going on the exchange rate a couple of days ago, you loose something like 2000 riel if you convert to us$ instead of aud to riel, (that%26#39;s based on 100 aud), so not exactly a huge amount. I guess you could lose out more if your bank charges for currency withdrawals etc (in the uk we%26#39;re lucky that one bank doesn%26#39;t charge for foreign withdrawals or using cards abroad)
