Anyone here that can share some info about Cambodia?

Hi

My wife and I have just started thinking about an Easter vacation (beginning of April) and we like Asia as a vacation destination. We have already been to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand several times so maybe it is time to try something new. Does anyone here have any experience with Cambodia? At the moment I guess a trip would include stops in Siam Reap (for Ankor Wat), Phnom Phen and a beach destination. Are there nice hotels along the coast? What are the beaches like? Are there places where you can go snorkeling? Is it easy to get around in the country by bus/train etc? How about price level for food, hotels etc? Anyone got any trip reports/blogs that they can share with us?

Regards

Rather broad questions there!

Have a search through some other posts on here, and have a read of some guide books and get a better idea about the country, and what you want to do there.

Siem Reap is far more than Angkor Wat, PP is a must see - just to even understand a small percentage of what the country has gone through, and the beach region - well, mixed reviews on that - some love it, other far prefer thai beaches

Agree with previous poster - broad question.

If you search the forum for Trip reports, JBR and the like, you%26#39;ll get a pretty good idea of what can/has been done. People who take the time to write %26#39;just back reports%26#39; have lots of good information. (A plug for mine ';Cambodia... Just Wonderful%26#39;)

there are also a couple of people who have their own websites (Bob %26amp; Janette, and Cathy %26amp; Gary) with great information and pictures to really make you salivate.

Good luck with your planning - you have chosen a wonderful place to visit.

cheers

Helen

Hi

Thanks for the feedback so far. Yes, the question is broad and vague as we are still in the early planning phase...so nothing is really settled yet but as least we have started playing around with the idea :-) But I will search the forum a bit to see what I can dig up :-)

Hi

Thanks for the link...love y our page :-) Sounds like you guys have something in common with us...traveling, food, wine, snorkeling etc. You should try to make your way to Europe too one of these days. How was Sihanoukville in terms of beach, snorkeling etc?

Yep..beach, wine, food, snorkellinh...thats us.

The beach was good for swimming, very warm and clean water. Nice drinks and BBQs on the beach of an evening. We didn%26#39;t do Bamboo Island but I understand that is very nice also.

Europe will be in a few years for us.

Cheers
