My husband and I are wondering if we can find a driver to take us from Phnom Penh through Kep and onward into Vietnam at the Ha Tien border. We are hoping we can do this drive all in one day. We would like to get as far a Rach Gia where we get a boat to Phu Quoc Island.

I can give you the e-mail address for a dependable driver in Phnom Penh , but you would need to check if indeed a vehicle can cross the border into Vietnam , it takes special permission coming this way .

Thank you I would take your drivers contact information. I%26#39;m hearing that the transfer into Ha Tien can be tricky. One person described having to take motorcycle taxis into Ha Tien centre and then transfer to a car taxi somewhere on town. We are hoping to be able to avoid this if possible.Is it possible to find out the border situation? It is still very new and may be working out issues?

From what i have been able to garner , you can only go to the Cambodian border and cross on foot , tuk-tuk seems to be the mode of transportation from the border to town , not a long journey .There are (?)no visa facilities at the border , you will need to apply before you travel . You can catch a boat from Ba Hon to Phu Quoc .

Not all border crossings are %26#39;approved%26#39; for foreigners ! It%26#39;s not like US / Canada border.

Check the forum for %26#39;permitted%26#39; crossing points, also VN tourist visas are now only for 15days, though your hotel can get them extended by the local police when you are in VN.
