Mobile Phones.

Hi can anybody tell me if their mobile phones work in Cambodia? I am with O2 UK their website says yes they work the people there say no they have no agreement with that country. I%26#39;d just like to be able to use my phone to check up on my dog from time to time. Thanx for any info.

My little Nokia worked, when I bought a Cambodia SIM card for it. Can your dog answer the phone? That is pretty amazing! :-)

Go to the web-site of your phone manufacturer , they can tell you by model number if it will work , it has something to do with if it is a 2 or3 band function . You should be able to get it updated at home , but you will not get this done in Cambodia , if it works it will cost you app. $10.00 for a sim card , but a Khymer national will need to register it for you , like your tul-tuk man .

I am not a citizen of Cambodia, yet I was able to get a SIM card. Just go to the HAPPY center at Sorya Market. They will need to photocopy your passport. They can sell you credit on that SIM card as well. Took less than 10 minutes.

Thanx guys I got intouch with my mobile company who said I couldn%26#39;t use my phone, then I e-mailed the company as says I can on their web-site they have told me I can use it, and to be safe I popped into a o2 shop today and they said I can just use it as I do over in UK. So fingers crossed I%26#39;ll beable to check on my dog who has developed kidney disease :-(

manikiniko, that is good to know , thank you for that advise .

Bought a sim card without any passport - right at Russian market in Phnom Penh. Paid $5 for the sim and then added $20 worth a minutes on it. So you don%26#39;t need a Cambodian person to buy it for you nor any ID. :)

Yes , as Britmaveric says , you can buy a sim card at many places now with no i.d.Cambodia is moving ahead .

You can text using UK mobile phones but can%26#39;t make a call. I got by texting and e-mailing, I%26#39;m sure things will change in time as I can usually make calls from most countries.
