I am looking at a trip to Cambodia in Jan 09. In light of the current very poor British Pound to US Dollar exchange rate, can anyone please suggest the best form of currency to use?
Currency
When we was in Cambodia you could only use the US$ and local money I have forgotten the name but there was 4000 to the doller.
Currency
Thinking about it it%26#39;s 2000 to the US$.
In Siem Reap, at least, US$ is the local currency, they will hardly take anything else, other then Cambodian Riel for small change. For current exchange rates check www.oanda.com .
US dollars are the defacto currency in cambodia, and are used to pay for pretty much everything
change for less than 1 dollar will usually be given in local currency - rhiel, this is usually around the 4000 mark to 1 dollar and are interchangable.
The cash points give out us dollars too. If you have time, or already have one, use a nationwide cash/credit card - no international charge, same goes for the post office card
Thank you all for your comments. Appreciated.
4K Riel for $1 - they prefer dollars - defacto currency.
