I will be in Siem Reap in March and planning to overland to Bangkok. Can anyone advise me of the way to arrange a share taxi to Poipet. I am hoping to then take the train to Hualumpong station in Bangkok. Also, what is the current cost of the taxi.
Thanks
Share taxi to Poipet
When I left from BK to Poipet by train. Train leaves hualumphong bangkok at 0555 arriving at aranyapratet 1135. the 20 minute tuk tuk to border crossing.
alternately buses leave ekkamai station bangkok regularly from 0500 as well, about the same time to get there. I do not know taxi.
Share taxi to Poipet
Thank you Earlybird, for your answer.
What I really am hoping to find out is how to get from Siem Reap back to Bangkok. I read about share taxis but is there a system where I can arrange a share taxi from Siem Reap to the border at Poipet, or is it just pot luck if I can find someone to share with. Are there any travel agents etc who fix up share taxi deals.
I have read lots of posts and know I can get a tuk tuk to the railway station or bus depot on the Thai side, but nothing much about how to arrange a share taxi from SR to Poipet.
Thanks
Nan
Hi Nan;
Only info I could find is ';Taxis back to Poipet from Siem Reap should cost about the same, perhaps a bit less. Arrange through your guesthouse, hotel or a travel agent.';

Thanks BanaPona
I will leave it until I arrive. I guess the worst that can happen is that I have to take a taxi on my own and pay the price! The bus doesn%26#39;t sound too great, does it.
By the way, I enjoy reading your other posts. Very helpful, lots of common sense.
Cheers
Nan
There are travel agencies all over town in Siem Reap that can arrange a share taxi. The one I have used before is Green Elephant, one block off Pub Street, but just about any travel agency can arrange it.
Should cost around $15-20 for the front seat. The back seat can get full of people and is very bouncy.
Good luck!
Thanks Nan - your comments are very much appreciated. There are times that I think about leaving the Cambodia forum - the most frustrating one of the handful I go on often.....but hearing that at least some people benefit bolsters my resolve. :)
the taxis leave from taxi corner ,,guest houses may direct you there ..usually $us15 share ..they remove the liscence plates so you have no public liability cover ..I had a good driver and no hassles ,,,those on back of a pickup looked very uncomfortable and the ir drivers were dangerous ..

Hello Rinjani and Ellenem
Thanks for the information about share taxis. I must admit I have not read anything about ';taxi corner'; but will check it out when I get there. I have also been given information that the Capitol bus is another good option.
Thanks for taking the time to write.

I left from taxi corner in March 2008 and paid 7 dollars for half of the front seat. There were probably 7 people in the back seat, most of whom got off part way. The car stopped at least 10 times to get gas - I can offer no explanation - no one spoke English. We passed by a couple of broken buses with the passengers sitting outside in the heat. There were many other share taxis in the late morning at taxi corner, most were looking for another few passengers to jam in. My driver took me directly to the border - he agreed in advance that he would only get paid if he took me personally all the way to the border (not transfer me to some other car half way, which is common.
The border was relatively easy, I took a motorbike taxi from the border to the bus station - 60 baht I think - and then the government bus 999 to mo chit in Bangkok. There are tourist buses at the border, but word from others is they should be avoided, I am not sure why. 999 service was excellent, and I think it is frequent , I did not have to wait. Poipet looked awful.
