NGO-run hotels or restaurants

Does anyone know where I can find info about hotels, restaurants, other activities run either by NGO%26#39;s or where my $ would be going toward some sort of humanitarian project?

Thx.

Greetings

I don%26#39;t know if this sort of thing would be of interest to you, but there is an orphanage in the outskirts of Phnom Penh that you could visit/make a donation/bring rice to. It is called SCD and I am very good friends with the director, Mr Chan Norn,

and have been sponsoring children there for 2 years. Have a look at their webiste here for further information.

Try Friends restaurant, great food, and all the staff are street children who have been trained up

they also have a number of other projects

Yes, there%26#39;s Friends, the cookie shop on Sisowath Quay, and also the very delicious Veiyo Tonle, who operate an orphanage as well.

There is Hagars Restaurant - Hagar has womens shelters %26amp; homes for girls that have been trafficked

Oh, and also, the pub ';Bogey and Bacall'; that brings hundreds of meals several times a week out to the garbage dump where kids scavenge for a living. A buddy of mine that was in PP the same time I was went out and did that twice (Bravo, Daniel!)...

In Siem Reap, check out the Paul Dubrule School (training hotel and restaurant for disadvantaged youth, I believe) and the Sala Bai School (restaurant only, I think).

In Phnom Penh, another poster has already mentioned the Friends restaurant. The same organization (Friends International) also runs Romdeng, a restaurant that focuses more on Cambodian cuisine.

Another Phnom Penh restaurant (and maybe hotel?) / vocational training program is Le Rit%26#39;s, run by NYEMO, which works with women who have been victims of domestic violence and trafficking. They have a daily set lunch, which is served in a nice garden setting; I believe they may also have rooms (not sure though).

In Sihanoukville, the Don Bosco Hotel School is great value for money (especially the food), though not walking distance to the beach - fantastic if you have your own vehicle, but might be too difficult if not. If you don%26#39;t stay at the hotel, be sure to get some of their fantastic gelato from their store in the center of town (opposite the Samudera supermarket).

I hope this helps.
